TreeRing, San Mateo, CA — Head of Marketing

DECEMBER 2014 - PRESENT

Lead company’s marketing and business development operations, delivering on-plan, profitable growth. Overall, I’m responsible for sourcing 90% of the company’s new revenue. Achievements over last three years include:

  • Achieving 9:1 ROI on marketing spend.

  • Growing organic traffic 300% while increasing average inbound lead value.

  • Developing Account-Based Marketing efforts and accompanying in-house Sales Development team, growing outbound-generated revenue from 0% to 30% of new revenue in two years.

  • Identifying need for—and helping implement—new customer success team model for highest value customers. Changes resulted in increased retention for that segment—from 91% to 96%—and increased NPS—from 38 to 74.

Monetate, Conshohocken, PA — Content Marketing Manager

JANUARY 2014 - NOVEMBER 2014

Ran company’s content marketing program, focusing on brand building and lead generating content. Achievements included:

  • Researching and writing Monetate’s Ecommerce Quarterly publication, which earned press in AdWeek, Business Insider, Digiday, Forbes, and the Washington Post.

  • Conceptualizing and writing company’s first Slideshare, which earned 30,000 views and more than 100 Marketing Qualified Leads in first week of publication.

Drinker Biddle & Reath, LLP, Phila., PA — Communications Manager

APRIL 2011 - DECEMBER 2014

Developed and implemented content strategies to raise awareness for the firm and 20 vertical clients. Achievements included:

  • Increasing email open rates by 30% and click-through rates by 15%.

  • Growing firm’s Twitter followers by 300% and doubling the number of followers on firm’s LinkedIn company page over a one-year period.

Prior to working in marketing, Leo was an award-winning journalist at the Courier-Post, a regional newspaper with a print circulation of 75,000, and The Legal Intelligencer, the oldest legal newspaper in the United States. He was awarded numerous awards during his time as a journalist, including awards for investigative, beat and feature writing.
